1. Objectives
Immediately prior to the Annual Conference, ISBE is again organising a Doctoral Day Seminar for postgraduate research students in small business and entrepreneurship. The objective is to provide a platform for doctoral and research students at different stages of their studies, to present their ideas, problems and issues in an academically rigorous but supportive environment. Students will gain useful insights into methodological, theoretical, conceptual, and policy developments in the field as explored by other students and leading academics.

Throughout the day, different aspects of undertaking a doctorate will be discussed, from developing your research topic and undertaking a literature review, to fieldwork, methodological issues, writing up and the viva itself. The Doctoral Day also offers a great opportunity for doctoral students to meet eminent scholars in the field of small business and entrepreneurship research and to gain the educational benefits of full participation in the ISBE Conference.

2. Student Registration Fees & Expenses
The Doctoral Day Seminar is FREE to eligible students who have registered and paid to attend the full Conference on the following three days. The Student Delegate Fee for the full conference, including Student Membership of ISBE for one year, is £165 if booked before 31st July 2008. The fee rises to £190 if booked after the 1st August 2008. These fees do not include the optional items such as the three evening events which are extra if required. These fees exclude accommodation, subsistence and travel expenses which must be arranged and paid either personally or by the student's own sponsoring institution.

3. Eligibility Criteria
Only students registered for relevant postgraduate or research degree programmes, either in the UK or overseas, who are not in receipt of a full-time salary are eligible for the Student Registration Fees and a FREE place. Students in receipt of scholarships or bursaries are eligible but salaried members of staff are not. A condition of the place on the Doctoral Seminar is that students attend the full three-day Conference programme.

An authorised person from the student's sponsoring University, Business School or other Institution is required to provide a statement confirming the student's status and eligibility for a place. Please complete the form overleaf, have it signed by your Head of Department or Director of Studies and return with your completed Conference Registration Form to the Conference Secretariat
There will be a limited number of places at the Doctoral Day Seminar and these will be allocated in order of application when the Conference Registration process is completed and the fees have been paid. Each educational institution may be limited to a maximum of three places in total if over-booked.
